"Yet another controversy has arisen over modifications to the Hinton golf course. This time it’s whether the existing proposal for a hotel on the golf course benefits the course, the Town of Hinton (TOH), both or neither."

During this time, EMS was re-routed to surrounding facilities, including Jasper and Edson, and any patient that presents to the Hinton site was referred to emergency departments in surrounding communities.

Alberta Health Services says the interruption will last from 7 a.m. Friday, April 19 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 21.

"The RCMP can confirm that INSET was engaged with the Edson RCMP and industry partners."

“An initial ignition of natural gas at the rupture site is now extinguished. We are working to support Alberta Wildfire in their response to contain a secondary fire.”

The wildfire was about 10 hectares in size and was visible from Highway 40 north and Highway 16. No communities are threatened at this time.
