Alberta Health Services says nursing staff will remain on-site to provide triage, assessments and referrals to emergency departments in neighbouring communities, as needed.

RCMP initially reported that a pipeline explosion has sparked the fire, but Yellowhead County later clarified that there has been no direct damage reported with nearby pipelines.

Police say the cause of the explosion is unknown at this time.

Alberta Health Service has stated that no physician will be on-site in the emergency department of the Hinton Healthcare Centre overnight from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. on June 24, 25, 26, 27 or 30, according to a Facebook post from the town on Monday.

"Due to the changes in the boundaries of the federal Yellowhead riding, this means that if Gerald Soroka gets elected again, he won't even be living in the riding he's supposed to represent."
