“A kid from Jasper won the national championship slalom title, second in the giant slalom and his younger brother is following close behind in his footsteps.”

This past weekend was the Jasper Mixed Bonspiel (April 5-7). The Bonspiel had 24 teams from all over Alberta compete including several local teams. It was beach-themed this year and most teams had dressed up to participate.

“With Arena renovations and temp. trailer dressing rooms it was a different season this year, but we are looking forward to things getting back to normal next season with our updated facilities.”

Jasper Municipal Council approved Tuesday in principle a loan up to $150,000 to backstop the fundraising shortfall for the new skatepark.

The Jasper Junior Olympics is run through the Alberta North Zone Ski Racing Society, with the Race Organizing Committee composed of multiple clubs from across northern Alberta.

Following the unanimous vote, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 401 now plans to head to the bargaining table at the end of March.

The team was made up of eight members of the Hinton Cougars, four from TNT Biathlon near Devon, one from Battle River Nordic and one from Edmonton Nordic. Five of these athletes were from Jasper.
