Motorists should expect closures and short delays along electrical distribution lines in Jasper National Park until mid-April.

ATCO will be working to bury electrical distribution lines between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. from Feb. 26 until April 14.

Work will take place along Edith Lake Road, some portions of Maligne Lake Road and Sixth Bridge Road.

“Closures will be in place to half of the Sixth Bridge parking lot and the unofficial trail following the existing overhead line west of Edith Lake,” Parks Canada added in a public notice.

“There will also be a detour around a temporary closure of the eastbound turn-off to Jasper Park Lodge.”

Traffic may be restricted to single-lane alternating, causing delays.

Parks Canada reminded motorists to obey reduced speed limits in construction areas and follow the directions of traffic control personnel.

Drivers are asked to plan their trip and check 511 Alberta for up-to-date road conditions.
