A spring storm has brought 25 centimetres of snow to the Maligne Lake area of Jasper National Park. An additional 20 to 25 centimetres is expected through the evening.

Last year, Alberta RCMP issued over 60,000 speeding tickets, 761 of them for excessive speeding (50 km/h or more over the speed limit).

Parks Canada is warning of potential closures on Icefields Parkway and Maligne Lake Road between Friday afternoon and Sunday evening due to spring avalanche conditions.

The closure will be between Athabasca Falls and Saskatchewan River Crossing and is expected to last from 3 p.m. Wednesday until 5 p.m. Friday.

Work will take place along Edith Lake Road, some portions of Maligne Lake Road and Sixth Bridge Road.

The one-hour closures are expected to occur between 12 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on a 20-kilometre section of the highway from Parker Ridge to Sunset Pass Trailhead in Banff National Park.

The closures will be from Parker Ridge to Pinto Lake Trailhead in Banff National Park, approximately 20 kilometres south of Parker Ridge.
