Selling lifestyle over wages

Despite Jasper’s small town charm, beautiful surroundings and amazing amenities, it can be exceptionally challenging to find qualified people to relocate to our community.

Parks are for people

Dear Editor, National Parks Act says what? The recent article “Hanging fruit could mean dead bears” was very informative, however, comments by senior park manager John Wilmshurst are very troubling.

‘Give the townsite back to Parks’

Dear Editor, I have been following Election Talk in the Fitzhugh and there were a couple of issues I would like to comment on. The first one is from the Sept.

Put candidates on the spot

Nomination day has come and gone and the official list of candidates for municipal council is longer than we could have ever imagined.

Party like a local

Jasper’s talent pool runs deep. There is no better example of that than the Jasper Folk Music Festival held last weekend.

Administration practices accountability

The chances are slim that the library and culture centre will be completed on budget. There’s no real surprise there, but the words have finally been spoken by the municipality.

What about services for seniors?

Dear Editor, I was quite impressed by the recent article in the Fitzhugh regarding the excellent services provided by Jasper’s Community and Family Services. I was amazed at the scope of services provided by the outreach workers.

'Allow Piglet to stay'

Dear Editor, I have met Lynda Knight’s Piglet. There is nothing offensive about her. She undoubtedly makes little to no impact on the daily functioning of life here in Jasper National Park. Certainly she impacts the park far less than a cat or a dog.

Protect Maligne Lake for future generations

Dear Editor, In 1908 Mary Schaffer described Maligne Lake and its surrounding peaks as “the finest view any of us had ever beheld in the Canadian Rockies.” Since then it has become far more than a view.

Take a break, reconnect

With Labour Day long weekend behind us, we can collectively breathe a sigh of relief. Another summer has come and gone, and now Jasperites can finally exit their hiding places and repatriate our beloved streets.
