Jasper National Park’s Maligne herd of caribou had ten or fewer animals in their last sighting. But three aerial surveys in 2018 and 2019 failed to locate caribou tracks or animals and Parks Canada now considers the herd locally extinct.

Life has been good in Jasper for Rose-Marie and Fred Wall. The community-minded couple started their lives together in the late 1950s and hosted many get-togethers at their home. Hiking, skiing and travelling have been a big part of their adventures.
