SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador (AP) — Former El Salvador President Mauricio Funes, who spent the final years of his life in Nicaragua to avoid various criminal sentences, died late Tuesday. He was 65.

Garth Hudson, a masterful Canadian multi-instrumentalist whose prowess on the organ and roots-rock hits with the Band helped define an era, has died. Hudson died early Tuesday morning at age 87 in a nursing home in Woodstock, N.Y.

Tom McVie, who coached the New Jersey Devils, Washington Capitals and Winnipeg Jets, has died. He was 89. McVie, also a longtime member of the Boston Bruins organization, died Sunday at his home in Vancouver, Wash.
