Although health care is a provincial responsibility, the Town has been taking an active role in this area over the last year amid the community’s doctor shortage.

Over the spring, community engagement took place regarding the community values and proposed policy changes to Jasper’s land-use policy, and six values were identified.

Only two gas stations remain in Jasper after two others were destroyed in last summer’s wildfire.

The unfrozen position will focus on conducting traffic enforcement within the town of Hinton as well as organize check stops, attend school functions, complete traffic operations with policing partners and report monthly to the detachment commander.

This new transit service will provide five round trips per day between Jasper and Hinton as well as seven round trips per day to Marmot Meadows, the interim housing site south of town.

The two new stations will be Level 3 and able to charge up to four electric vehicles at once. Jasper currently has 11 EV charging stations.

Jasper currently has 11 EV charging stations, including eight Tesla Level 3 chargers and three Level 2 charging stations on the east end of town.

Since August, Parks Canada has issued 123 development permits and 34 building permits. Only 41 per cent of permit applications received since August are complete and conforming.

Moving traffic violations, which are currently only enforced by Jasper RCMP, include speeding and failing to stop at a crosswalk.
