JASPER – Jacob Playfair came in first for this year's 165-kilometre Grand Fondo on Saturday (June 7) with a time of 4:44:51.
Playfair also had the best time for the 10-kilometre Marmot Hill Climb with a time of 30:55 at a rate of 19.4 km/h.
Christopher Wash won the 100-kilometre Medio Fondo with a time of 3:10:14, and Patrick Mroczek won the 65-kilometre Piccolo with a time of 2:10:58.
Athletes began the Grand Fondo near the Activity Centre and left the townsite to go south on the Icefields Parkway before heading up Highway 93A with a brief detour up and down Marmot Road.
They continued along 93A until reaching the southern intersection with the parkway and going back to Jasper.
The other races followed shortened versions of this route.
The 190-km Forte Fonda and the 126-km Leg Burner were cancelled this year due to the aftermath of the 2024 wildfire, which has closed Edith Cavell Road.
Started in 2014, the Grand Fondo Jasper is Canada’s only fondo to take place inside a Canadian national park.
The full list of results can be found on the Grand Fondo Jasper website.
