Crews finished construction for installing utilities along Connaught Drive on Nov. 19 for the season with some work expected next spring.

Connaught Drive and Pine Avenue opened to traffic on Nov. 21.

“On behalf of WSP and GS Construction, the project team would like to thank the Jasper residents, business owners and visitors for their patience during the construction of this project,” the team said in a statement.

“Our teams have been dedicated to ensuring that this project was complete prior to the winter season, and are pleased to have delivered as promised. We look forward to returning in the Spring of 2022 in order to complete this project in full, and be ready for the anticipated future development of this area.”

The new utilities will enable the development of housing.

In the next few weeks when the weather permits, GS Construction will be painting center lines on Connaught.

A few projects will be completed in early May 2022, including a final layer of asphalt on Connaught Drive, Spruce Avenue, and Pine Avenue.

Crews will finish the concrete sidewalk and curb in front of Petro-Canada and Bright Spot Family Restaurant, where there is currently a temporary asphalt one for winter.

There will also be seeding and sodding all of the areas that have been topsoiled and the completion of concrete curb on a section of Connaught Drive median.
