A 20-kilometre stretch of the Icefields Parkway is expected to experience closures on Monday, Jan. 29, for avalanche control work.
The closures will be from Parker Ridge to Pinto Lake Trailhead in Banff National Park, approximately 20 kilometres south of Parker Ridge.
Travellers should expect intermittent one-hour closures between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Warmer temperatures over the next few days in Jasper and Banff national parks will increase the avalanche hazard, according to Parks Canada.
This control work is expected to reduce the likelihood of a natural avalanche that could put the safety of travellers in jeopardy.
