One person has died after a single vehicle rollover near Maligne Lake.
On July 14 at 10:30 p.m., Jasper RCMP received a report of a missing 36-year-old female from Jasper, who had not reported for work.
This was considered out of character and there was concern for her wellbeing.
While police worked to located the missing female, around 10 a.m. the next day, they received a report of a damaged vehicle a distance off Maligne Lake Road between Medicine Lake and Maligne Lake.
Upon arrival, police located a vehicle, which appeared to have been in a single vehicle rollover that ended with it on fire.
The fire had extinguished by the time emergency services arrived.
A single occupant of the vehicle was found deceased and is believed to be the missing 36-year-old female.
“The Jasper RCMP continue to investigate this fatality and would like to extend their sincerest condolences to the family, friends and coworkers of the deceased,” police stated in a July 16 release.
The Jasper Fire Department, Parks Canada and Jasper Emergency Medical Services also attended to the location of the vehicle.
Police added they do not anticipate further updates.
