One dead in single-vehicle rollover east of Edson

A 28-year-old female has died following a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 16 near Range Road 150 east of Edson on Jan. 14.

A GMC Sierra pickup truck was travelling westbound on Highway 16 and lost control after a silver or grey older-model SUV passed it, according to a preliminary police investigation.

The truck entered into the median and rolled over, and the 28-year-old female passenger from the Edson area was ejected from the vehicle.

Witnesses stopped to assist and administered CPR on the passenger until emergency services arrived.

STARS air ambulance flew the passenger to a hospital in Edmonton, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The name of the deceased was not released.

The driver of the truck, a 48-year-old male from Yellowhead County, was transported by EMS to an area hospital for minor injuries.

RCMP continue to investigate this collision and want to speak with the occupant(s) of the reported grey or silver SUV.
