As Hinton eases into a new utility rate model, the Town needs to install residential meters and replace meters for commercial and industrial properties.

The items seized included methamphetamine, cannabis concentrate, MDMA, steroids, vaping devices and wireless earphones.

On Jan. 21, the Town acquired the land containing golf holes 1, 2 and part of 3 from Qualico Developments West for $409,684.24.

“There, overall, is a general shortage of operators in the industry, and so they have the ability to move anywhere they want, and smaller communities, we found, have been having trouble attracting operators long-term.”

While the EPR program will save the Town roughly $300,000 per year, it does not cover all current services offered in Hinton. Administration estimated it would cost $110,000 annually to maintain the level of service.

The $15-million development will provide affordable homes for Indigenous elders in the Victor Lake Co-operative.

Through the EPR program, the Town will also receive residential curbside recycling collection services in October 2026.

"Administration believes that the work they conduct can be fulfilled by Town staff, and in doing so provide approximately $100,000 in annual operational savings."
