Jasper Junior Senior High School raised money in honour of a Canadian hero last week.
The school held a Terry Fox walk on Wednesday and all its pupils walked laps around the school building dressed in red and white.
Before the walk, teachers taught their students about Terry Fox, the young man who caught the nation’s heart when he attempted to run across his country in 1980 despite having lost a leg to cancer.
Teacher Barb Schmidt, who organised the walk, said: “It was great to help students learn about Terry Fox, his legacy, foundation and why he is a national hero.”
The Terry Fox Foundation still raises money for cancer research in the Canadian hero’s name with annual Terry Fox Runs across the country.
And pupils at Junior Senior High donated $2 each last week and raised more than $250 for the charity.
