Downtown Jasper is now home to Redpass Barber Co, a traditional barbershop, and clothing store Puur Athletics.

Redpass Barber Co. was opened by longtime Jasperite Brent Best on Monday in the old Bloom Hair Studio building on Patricia Street.

Best, a former foreman for CN, barbered at Bloom for three years and named his new shop after one of the stations he used to cover.

“It was always my goal to have my own store and I had the opportunity,” said Best.

“I wanted to create something that was modern but had that vintage kind of feel like this.”

And Puur Athletics, a clothing store, opened on Sunday in the former Tea Leaf Boutique site on Connaught Drive.

Owned by Jennifer Grey and Amanda Yagminas, the store is Puur Athletics’ second, with one already open in Cold Lake.

The boutique offers North American-made, ethically produced clothing for yoga, dance, gym, swimming and other movement.
