In Jasper, many foreign workers have been laid off and are looking for a way home.
And with travel restrictions tightening around the world, they are being recommended to travel within the next week.
Jasper Employment and Education Centre shared the following advice:
AIR CANADA
- They have reduced and paused international services however, as of today, there are flights from Calgary to London, Paris and Frankfurt. Service to Australia is reduced but there are flights from Calgary to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
- More air services will be paused and the dates are different by route with the soonest suspended service effective March 27.
- Based on what we know today, we recommend that foreign workers travel as quickly as possible within the next week.
KLM
- This is another option for flights from Calgary into Europe via Amsterdam.
- Based on today, there are no changes to service from Calgary.
The Consulate offices for Australia and the UK are closed. Emergency lines for nationals outside the country are open.

AIR SERVICE UPDATES
At the present time, there are flights departing from Alberta to the UK and Australia. There has been no public announcement by Air Canada to suspend international air services. WestJet will be suspending international service on March 22. For the UK, this means the last flights will depart Calgary and Edmonton on March 21.
