When COVID hit and cases were rising, so did the stress levels of a lot of employers and their employees.
With phase three of Alberta’s Open for Summer plan already underway and life returning to normal, there is now an added stress on many staff and their employers.
With stress comes the decline of mental health and forgetting to take care of it.
“The Jasper Park Chamber of Commerce is cognizant of the many stressors of employees and employees have been dealing with over the past too many months,” said Executive Director Pattie Pavlov in an email.
Pavlov noted that mental health is important to take care of and how workplaces can play an essential part in maintaining positive mental health.
Workplaces can be a strong contributor to an employer and employees’ mental well-being but can also be a stressful environment that can contribute to the rise of mental health problems.
Since most adults spend the day at their place of work, the employee and employer should be aware of the many resources there are out there to support both if needed.
The following online resources are available:
• Mental Health Commission of Canada
• Guidance for Employers
• The National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace
• Welcoming Women Back to Work
• BDC Wellness
• Government of Canada’s Wellness Together
