Works of art by young Jasperites inspired by our town’s history are on display at the museum.
Grade 2 and 3 pupils from the elementary school have their own exhibit: Jasper’s Past Through the Eyes of Jasper’s Future.
Pupils took inspiration from old photographs and drew their own versions.
Sarah chose Mount Tekarra to draw from, she said: “I chose it because I thought it would be very interesting and I always wondered what mountain that was.
“I copied off a picture and it is a clear view of the mountain right by the school so I just had to look out the window.”
Ezri said she enjoyed everything about the project. She said: “I drew Lake Annette with two people in a canoe. I chose it because my cousin’s name is Annette and it is the easiest.”
Ben said he chose to draw Jasper Camera and Gifts because he likes taking pictures and giving gifts. “I tried my hardest,” he said.

Carter drew a picture of the bridge at Old Fort Point. He said: “I hike there a lot and don’t know much about it but really like going there. I drew it from picture to picture to picture, the old picture, I copied off there.”
The exhibit is open to the public at the museum every Thursday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until May 12.
Rob Hubick, manager of the museum, said: “It’s excellent for us because we teach a young age about history and the museum, we are bringing in groups like the parents who may not usually be in here.
“It’s good for them and good for us.”
