Hundreds of speedsters descended on Marmot Basin last weekend for the 41st Jasper Junior Olympics.
The epic weekend of races saw young athletes from across the province compete to win coveted Olympic bells.
And Jasper athletes took some of the top spots.
Day one had racers compete individually on two different courses over two runs. The four- and five-year-old athletes had two fun runs on a course on School House while the older athletes took part in Giant Slalom events on Dromedary.
That day, Jasper skier Alexis Lahaie won first place in the age six men’s lower course race and Charlotte Bisaillon won third in the women’s. For the age seven’s, Elliot Vassallo won first place in the men’s race.
In the women’s upper course race, Emilie Oxley won third for the age nines, Keira Duffy came second in the age tens and Karleigh Vassallo was first in the age 11s.
Felix-Olivi Lahaie was second in the men’s age 11 upper course race and Corbin Gulevich and Raphael Fortin just missed the podium in the age 10s upper course race, coming in fourth and fifth.
On Sunday, everyone took part in the Hombre Shootout - racing in a timed run with obstacles.
Jasper skier Lucy Caputa won the race for the age five women, Alexis Lahaie won second in the age six men’s race and Emilie Bisaillon came second in the age eight women’s.
And on the upper course, Karleigh Vassalo won again in the women’s age 11 category.
