Kevin Lazzari | Special to the Fitzhugh
I have probably watched almost every Tom Hanks movie ever made and The Terminal is one of my favourites.
When you view a film from Hanks you are always treated to a great couple of hours. I cannot think of a movie that starred Tom Hanks and thought that was a waste of time.
Each movie is special for different reasons. Tom puts his heart and soul into each character that he portrays for the benefit of the audience. I applaud him for making us understand the concept of suspension of disbelief.
The Terminal takes us on a fantastic journey of humans being empathetic towards each other. It reminds me of our current situation and how I have witnessed random acts of kindness throughout our small mountain town.
The Terminal is a microcosm of the human condition and the film slowly shows how people can overcome any obstacle thrown at them. There is one scene where Tom Hanks generates a scheme on how to make money to buy food against all odds of the establishment - it is one of my favourite scenes and I could watch that specific segment over and over.
The writer really came up with a novel concept and Tom Hanks was razor sharp in executing his role. The movie has a pace that certain viewers will find too slow and wish it progressed at a faster pace. The beauty of the film is it rolls at a steady pace and does not submit to the pressures of Hollywood.
I was truly rooting for Tom’s Hanks character at each and every turn of his journey. If you are looking for a fun movie to watch please check out The Terminal.
