When a movie comes out with a title like Honest Thief, I become instantly intrigued.

Is there such a thing as an honest thief? By definition a thief is “a person who steals another person's property, especially by stealth and without using force or violence.” It would take a unique individual to play the part of an honest thief and have the audience sympathize with their character. Liam Neeson is probably one of the few actors that could pull off the whole honest thief concept. Mark Williams does a brilliant job on providing the direction for Neeson’s character.

We want to believe that Liam wants to go straight and leave his days of planning heists behind him. The viewer takes the side of the thief and hopes he will go straight and have a great life.

Then the unthinkable happens when two corrupt FBI agents have other plans for Liam Neeson. I guess the two FBI agents have not watched the movie Taken and don’t know Neeson has a certain skill set.

In every movie I ever watched with Neeson in it, he always has a convert background that the villains are caught off guard by. Honest Thief is no exception and we find out Liam is ex-military with a specialty in explosives.

The pace of the film starts to gain momentum when the villains start messing with Neeson’s plans and the audience is rewarded with brilliant plot twists. I know the formula has been used a few too many times, but in this movie, it definitely works.

Take a chance if you are looking for an action thriller starring Liam Neeson.
