Tony and Clara Adriano are the epitome of the Canadian dream.

Tony came to Jasper from the Philippines 13 years ago and Clara one year later - each with just two pieces of luggage.

Fast forward a decade later and the two have bought a home and are also proud owners of a laundry legacy.

Clara said: “We built this from scratch.

“We tell the kids we came here with two luggages, we met and got married here and were housekeepers.

“This is something we built together, we are very proud of it and want our kids to see that and hopefully one day have them take it over.

"We want to inspire our fellow immigrants that with hard work and dedication, you can achieve anything.

"That’s one thing we love about Canada.”

Tony and Clara worked hotel jobs in Jasper and worked their way up to management positions before realizing the gap in the market.

“We figured there was a need for a laundry business in town,” said Tony.

“We talked to business owners and hotels and restaurants in town and came up with this idea - it was only the Lodge who used to do it.”

So in the summer of 2017, the couple took on a business building in the Stan Wright Industrial Park, bought four washers and four dryers, and started with a handful of contracts in town.

The Adrianos clean linens and towels, big duvets, blankets and quilts, rent mats and rugs, and restaurant aprons and uniforms.

They serve mostly hotels, restaurants and private home accommodations.

“It’s a big improvement since we started,” said Tony.

“Back then we had no contracts, we worked our way up and talked to business owners.

“Now we have expanded and added more machines.

“We are growing and people are pretty happy overall.”

Adriano Laundry Service is busiest in the summertime, sometimes operating for 16 hours a day.

“The machines are constantly running,” said Clara.

“It can be overwhelming and it’s hard work - you have to have a system.”

But in the summer they have more hands to help, taking on 10 to 12 employees.

Tony said: “My favourite thing is to be able to provide this service to the local community and be able to provide some jobs to fellow Jasperites.”

And the couple treat all their staff at the laundry as family.

Clara said: "They all work very hard everyday especially during the summer to get the work done.

"We are thankful and grateful for each and everyone of them."

The two have their heart in Jasper and are proud to offer a local, fast and effective service.

“We are very easy to work with,” said Clara.

“If you need something right away we can get there. We are just a phone call or email away.”

Tony said the best part of Jasper is that the locals support locally.

“And your benefit is the service we provide is unbeatable because if they need something right away we can be there in five minutes,” he said.

“We are right there ready to go.”

And there's a reason their logo says “We care about your laundry” - the Adrianos and their staff all put in that extra mile to show that they care.
