The Jasper Municipal Library is opening their doors on March 10 after being closed for almost three months.

Angie Thom, director of library services, said this opening was good news for Jasperites.

“The staff is excited to see our regulars and new people too,” Thom said.

Thom, along with library staff Kavell Munro and Janeen Keelan, geared up for the opening.

"We heard from our users that their preference is to have consistent opening times," Thom said.

As such, the library will be open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am. to 5 p.m.

Masks are mandatory. In addition to the staff, Thom said there is a limit of 25 people in the library at one time.

"Everyone's visit is limited to one hour,” she said. “Two public computers are available and three wifi spots, limited to 45 minutes each time, because we have to clean them."

Thom said, "Returning items continue to be in isolation for five days before they're checked in. Then we pull them out and check them in, and put them away."

She noted folks are welcome to return their books to the book drop at the parking lot side of the building.

"It's always open," she said.

Limitations include no in-person programming and no exam invigilation.

"We need to figure out what we're doing now," Thom said. "It's a matter of getting everybody used to the rules again."
