Coming off a season-capping win over a big city squad with just seven players at the end of last season, Jasper Glaciers coach Chuck MacKinnon has a good feeling about tomorrow’s home opener against rival Hinton.
“Every single one of these guys has a deadly attitude,” he said as the larger squad of 12, many of them new recruits, took a trip to the end line after a fumble during practice Sept. 5. “One was supposed to be at the orthodontist today. Instead he came here. We’ve got two or three that have never played before.”
Among them are three boys who originate from the Philippines, one from Serbia and another from Korea.
The first game of the 2017/18 season against the Hinton Wolfpak kicks off at the JJSHS athletic fields at 4:30 p.m. this Friday, Sept. 8.
“We have some unfinished business with these guys.”
