On March 2, 2023, at 2:45 p.m., Hinton RCMP received a report regarding a firearm being left in a hotel room.
Police attended and located a stolen loaded shotgun and additional rounds of ammunition.
The male occupant had departed the hotel room prior to police arrival.
Hinton General Duty, General Investigation Section and Crime Reduction Units teamed up to complete a Search Warrant on the hotel room where additional items and drugs were located.
The male occupant of the hotel room was located at a hotel nearby and was arrested for weapon and drug offences.
Christopher Daniel Daly (38), a resident of Edmonton, was charged with:
- Possession of a firearm contrary to order
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm without a licence
- Identity fraud
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a controlled substance
Daly was brought before a Justice and held. Daly will remain in custody to appear in court on March 7, 2023 at Hinton Provincial Court.
