Taking advantage of retiring pennies
Dear Editor,
In reference to Rob Merrifield’s letter in the Feb. 7 issue of the Fitzhugh, locally the Jasper Yellowhead Museum and Archives is taking advantage of the retiring of the penny by collecting pennies as a fundraiser. The support of the community for this project, from school kids, seniors, CN employees, Parks Canada, municipality, health care, pubs and all the people who have dropped off pennies and change at the museum, has been amazing. Thank you so much. The tally at this time is $1,230.59 – that is a lot of pennies and some silver. The pennies can be dropped off rolled or loose at the museum, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday to Sunday.
Appreciatively,
Sheila Couture
