Twenty-seven curlers tested their skills during the fourth annual hot shot skills competition at the Jasper Curling Club, Jan. 27.

Ron Healey walked away the winner with 14 points, followed by Karen Huculak with 13 points. Third place was a three-way tie between Grant Potter, Jonathan Ashton and Jill Scott, with 12 points each.

The competition includes six events that are worth five points each for a total of 30 points.

Events include hit and stay, draw the button and double takeout, among others.

“It’s basically a skills competition where you compete against yourself,” explained Lee Chorley, who helped organize the event.

The winners split the $400 prize, which was collected from the 27 competitors.
