Welcome, readers! Welcome to Chamber Matters! Don’t let the name fool you though; it’s not just about Chamber “matters.” It’s about why the Chamber matters to our businesses, residents and in general our community.

While we have regular communication with our membership, we sometimes miss residents and others who wonder, “What, exactly does our Chamber do?” Glad you asked!

We were extremely excited to be the founding driver and reactivator in the retail/patio seating expansion and delighted to see the significant positive impact this had on our business community as well as energizing the downtown core.

We make sure we are on as many community boards as we can, currently sitting on 15, which enables us to stay nimble and informed to be able to advocate on everything from housing to Highway 93 Maintenance, paid parking consultations.

Most recently we are driving the distribution of COVID-19 rapid testing kits to our membership to ensure we can all stay safe and operating through these challenging times. We are proud to collaborate, mediate and disseminate quietly but effectively daily for our business community.

We are happy to have an in-depth chat with anyone interested in furthering their understanding of “what we do,” but for the time being, we hope this monthly Chamber Matters piece will be informative and perhaps encourage those who have wondered if the Chamber is right for them, to understand it is right and it does work for you, regardless of the sector you operate in our community.

And, did you know we have excellent partners on a provincial and national level that can save you money? No kidding! Valued added programs such as discounts on everything from gas to shipping, payroll to insurance, are all at your disposal as a member. Check our website (www.jasperparkchamber.ca) for details on the many and varied options available. Here is a bit of “top secret” intel – watch the Chamber take the next step to help with shopping local campaigns, national campaigns to assist you with going online (with professional assistance) to make your business and our destination reputation the best it can be.

Intrigued yet? Give us a call and of course, watch this space for next month’s offerings. P.S. You can always visit our Facebook Page. (We only manage three – Jasper Park Chamber of Commerce, Jasper the Bear and our beloved Robson House Historical Society.)

Till next month, enjoy all the wonders we have in our backyards (literally).

Pattie Pavlov is the executive director of the Jasper Park Chamber of Commerce.
