Be a responsible dog owner

Dear Editor,

This is an open letter to my lovely neighbours and fellow Jasperites. Now that spring has finally arrived and the snow is finally melting, the amount of dog turd becoming not only visible but very ‘fragrant’ as well, is appalling. It is everywhere in my alley. Walking to my parked car every day is like crossing a minefield. And just so you friendly neighbours aren’t sure if it is you I am talking about, I live in the 100 Block of Patricia Street. But I am sure the other alleys are just as bad. As a responsible dog owner, it is your duty to clean up after your pet. And as a friendly neighbour, it is your moral obligation. So even if it is -28, and snowing, PLEASE pick it up. It isn’t going to melt like the snow does.

Referees make the game

Dear Editor,

Hockey season is just about over. Would hockey even happen without referees? They officiate at all the league games, deciding on a dime the calls. There is a yearly clinic where young hockey players can learn another aspect of the game and then have the opportunity to wear the stripes. I appreciate the  dedication and perseverance of referees. Thank you to our referees.
