Canadian men's water polo team loses 22-10 to Montenegro at world championships

SINGAPORE — Canada's men's water polo was eliminated from medal contention at the world aquatics championships with a 22-10 loss to Montenegro on Friday. Montenegro opened up a 12-3 halftime lead after blanking Canada 5-0 in the second quarter.

SINGAPORE — Canada's men's water polo was eliminated from medal contention at the world aquatics championships with a 22-10 loss to Montenegro on Friday.

Montenegro opened up a 12-3 halftime lead after blanking Canada 5-0 in the second quarter.

The Canadians were more competitive in the second half but were unable to make up any ground.

Canada will next face Romania on Sunday in a classification game to determine places ninth through 12th in the event.

Montenegro faces 2022 world champion Spain in a quarterfinal Sunday.
