RCMP will provide an update this fall for their investigation into last summer’s Ice Explorer rollover at the Columbia Icefield that killed three people.

Police previously stated that an update was expected for spring 2021, but in a July 15 news release, police said they were not able to release any new information at this time.

Alberta RCMP continue to pursue multiple avenues of investigation.

On July 18, 2020, a rollover of an Ice Explorer all-terrain vehicle occurred within the Columbia Icefield in the Athabasca Valley.

Of the 27 passengers in the vehicle, three adults were killed and a number of others sustained critical injuries.

At least two lawsuits have been filed on behalf of the passengers.

The tours have since restarted with new safety measures, which included adding seatbelts to the buses.
