The cycle continues, as the fourth annual ATB Tour of Alberta soon comes to town.
It’s Canada’s first and highest ranked professional road cycling stage race, according to organizers, and has an international audience of over 40 million viewers.
The Tour begins right here in Jasper on Friday, Sept. 1, which will result in road closures.
With over 100 riders entered in the race and thousands of spectators on-hand, the town is sure to pick up. The ATB Tour of Alberta prepares a festival type environment with live entertainment, vendors, local food and activities, according to organizers.
The Canadian Cycling Association gave the race a 2.1 ranking, the highest in Canadian stage race cycling history.
But maybe most importantly, how will the road closures affect you?
Street closures and parking restrictions
From Thursday, Aug. 31 at noon to Friday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m.
Elm Avenue closed between Geikie Street and Turret Street
Robson Street closed between Elm Avenue and the Hospital (hospital access maintained)
Old Fire Hall parking lot closed
Activity Centre parking lot closed (Thursday only)
Also on Friday, Sept. 1 from 5 a.m. to noon
Geikie Street closed between the ambulance bays and Pyramid Lake Road
Elm Avenue between Geikie Street and Patricia Street (Patricia Street remains open)
The town is prohibiting parking within the closure area based on the timeline above. The town is advising guests to check available signage.
Parking Ban
The race starts on Elm Avenue at 10:25 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, and heads out of town using Bonhomme Street, Pine Avenue, Connaught Drive and Sleepy Hollow Road, before heading south on Hazel Avenue (93A).
A street closure lasting approximately 20 minutes will be in place on the roadways above, allowing racers and their entourage of police cars and motorcycles to head out of town. Traffic flow and parking will resume as soon as the race leaves the town site.

Elm Avenue between Turret Street and Bonhomme Street
Bonhomme Street between Elm Avenue and Pine Avenue
Pine Avenue between Bonhomme Street and Connaught Drive
Connaught Drive between Pine Avenue and Sleepy Hollow Road
