With the summer months coming to the bittersweet end, so is the world of summer sports.

Throughout the summer, the community has hosted sports such as slo-pitch and a kids tennis camp.

Every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the month of August, a local kids tennis camp has been taking place: the blue group in the morning and the yellow group in the afternoon.

The age ranges from six to 12 with about 52 kids signing up for the tennis camp.

Tennis director John Pelosi started this camp last summer.

With increased demand for the camp, Pelosi decided to increase the enrollment and offer the two sessions.

Next summer, the camp will come back and offer a more advanced camp for kids who wish to learn at a more competitive capacity.

“I would like to thank the town of Jasper for donating the usage of the tennis courts, with a special thanks to Connie and Yvonne,” Pelosi said.

Along with the camp, Jasper’s slo-pitch season came to an end.

The playoffs took place the weekend of Aug. 14-15.

A total of eight local teams competed in the season’s playoffs.

Twenty-two games were played by participants over the two days, ending with both A and B finals.

The B championship game was won by the Bongs who defeated the Gangsters and the A championship game was won by the Bonestars who defeated the Royals.

“I would like to thank all the team captains with helping me organize the JSL (Jasper Slo-Pitch League) this season and would also like to thank the town’s grounds crew for maintaining the baseball diamonds at a high level all season long,” Pelosi said.

“I would also like to thank Jasper Brew Pub, De’d Dog Bar, Wine Merchants, Rocky Mountain Liquidators, NorthFace Pizza and Raven Bistro for all their donations to our playoffs weekend. Without local business support, we would not have been able to stage such a grand weekend event.”
