Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Jasper National Park Wednesday evening.

Ten to 15 centimetres of "heavy, wet snow" is expected.

“A cold front slumping southward has spread heavy snow into areas of west central Alberta," the alert warns. "Ten to 15 cm of heavy wet snow is expected. The snow is forecast to begin tapering off Thursday morning in the Grande Cache region."

Areas farther south should see improvement on Thursday afternoon or evening. While Jasper townsite is expected to see some snow, the heavier amounts will fall over higher elevations and along the Icefields Parkway Highway 93.

"Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow."
