Parks Canada is reminding residents and those working in Jasper National Park that a valid park pass must be displayed in their vehicles at all times.

Many residents have not yet renewed their passes despite being well into 2020, according to Parks Canada.

“Gate attendants will remind those without a pass of the requirement to have the appropriate park pass displayed on their vehicles at all times within the confines of Jasper National Park,” Parks Canada stated in a Feb. 18 update.

“Having the pass visible will help avoid delays at park gates, and will ensure you won't be issued a non-compliance notice.”

A Resident Pass is available to residents whose vehicle is registered in Jasper and is valid from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 each year.

A Work Pass is available to people working in Jasper National Park who may live outside the park, or reside in Jasper temporarily for work, and is valid for the period of employment.

To obtain a pass, the following information is required:

  • your name, physical street address and mailing address
  • your valid vehicle registration showing expiry date, license plate number and registered address
  • your proof of employment in Jasper (such as confirmation-of-employment letter from employer, most recent pay stub, staff ID, etc.)

Passes can be obtained in person at the Jasper National Park Administration Office or online at the Parks Canada website.

The Jasper National Park Administration Office (west entrance at 607 Connaught Drive) is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
