A Jasper man was airlifted to Edmonton after shattering his pelvis at Horseshoe Lake earlier this week.

A cook at the Olive Bistro, Ron Cooper hit the water wrong after cliff jumping at the popular spot in Jasper National Park.

He doesn’t have benefits or insurance so a GoFundMe campaign has been launched. It’s raised $750 of its $5,000 goal in four days.

Ron was unable to walk after the accident. His friends got him on to a paddleboard and carried him out, then drove him to the hospital in Jasper. He was airlifted to Edmonton amidst concerns over internal bleeding.

He underwent surgery on Friday to have metal plates placed.

“Please donate so my brother can pay his rent and bills during this long, slow and painful period.”
