The Icefields Parkway may be closed between Parker Ridge and Saskatchewan Crossing south of the Jasper townsite for periods of two-to-six hours beginning 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
These temporary closures should be completed by 5 p.m., but control work may be postponed to Wednesday depending on the weather.
A winter storm is forecasted to hit Jasper National Park starting Monday afternoon and bring upwards of 25 centimetres of snow by Wednesday morning.
Parks Canada says this will increase the avalanche hazard, with closures dependent on the results as Parks Canada conducts helicopter-assisted avalanche control work.
Travellers should monitor 511.alberta.ca for updates.
