After an extensive search around Mount Edith Cavell for a missing young couple, RCMP confirmed two bodies have been found.

Matthew Kozak, 32, and 25-year-old Zabrina Paige Ferrier, had not been seen since Sept. 18 and were reported missing by family members.

Their SUV was found in a parking lot at Mount Edith Cavell on Monday, Sept. 21, and Jasper RCMP, together with Parks Canada Visitor Safety Specialists, conducted ground and air searches Sept. 22.

Last night (Sept. 22) at about 6 p.m., Parks Canada Visitor Safety personnel using a helicopter located two bodies in the Verdant Pass area, Corporal Deanna Fontaine, RCMP Media Relations Officer, said in a media release.

Given the remote location and the loss of daylight, the recovery could not be completed at that time.

Jasper RCMP, along with Parks Canada Visitor Safety personnel, recovered the two bodies this morning.
