The Bachelorette is rumoured to be the reason why the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge has been privately booked for nine weeks beginning the end of February.

On Jan. 26, CBC News first reported that a “mystery guest” had fully booked the nearly 450-room hotel with the National Post later confirming the television show will be filming its next season in Jasper.

It is also reported that guests who previously made bookings for this period had their reservations cancelled.

Danika Beaton, public relations manager at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, was not able to confirm these reports.

"As we must always safeguard the privacy of our guest, we do not share details about hotel reservation, meeting, or private events," Beaton said in an email.

The Fitzhugh has reached out to ABC, which produces The Bachelorette, for comment.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health, also fielded questions during a Jan. 26 update about how filming would proceed given Alberta's current COVID restrictions

She said officials have been working to put together a framework for the professional film industry similar to other provinces.

"As we look to any decisions that we make, No. 1 is whether or not there's any risk to the public, whether any of the potential activities could cause spread and cause risk," Hinshaw said.

"And then No. 2, as we consider any potential requests for exemptions, we also consider the broader public interest and what might be in that public interest."

She added crossings across the Canada-U.S. border would be a federal decision.
