Alberta florist's 'Reba' design wins award at Calgary Stampede

A floral arrangement inspired by country star Reba McEntire earned an Alberta florist an award at the Fleurs de Villes floral exhibition

A life-size floral arrangement inspired by country star Reba McEntire earned an Okotoks florist kudos at the Calgary Stampede.

The display by Boy o Boy Flowers by Nikolle won the Most Creative Floral Dressed Mannequin award at the Fleurs de Villes floral exhibition

Billed as a “fresh floral celebration of Country Music icons,” the exhibit features 11 mannequins made entirely out of fresh flowers and inspired by some of the biggest names in country music.

Florists from the Calgary area were assigned a subject, flower shop owner Nikolle Grainger said.

“We were quite excited to get Reba,” Grainger said.

Boy o Boy Flowers by Nikolle shares a building on McRae Street with her mom and master florist, Beth Grainger, who runs BG’s Design & Decor.

Beth helped on the design along with staff designer Tiffany Farrer.

The florists mimicked an outfit McEntire wore in the 1994 comedy North.

The mannequin is about six feet tall. Other famous mannequins in the exhibit include artists like Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Tammy Wynette and Miranda Lambert.

The floral creations will be on display at the BMO Centre on the Stampede grounds until July 13.

Entry is free with Stampede admission.
