Visitors and Jasperites of all ages flocked to Pyramid Lake Jan. 17 to take part in one of Jasper in January’s premiere events: Winterstruck.
As dogsled teams yipped and skaters swooshed along a freshly cleared path in the lake, the smell of freshly cooked bannock mixed with the crisp scent of fresh snow.
Hundreds of people crowded onto the lake in the warm afternoon sun, taking part in the host of activities set up for them to enjoy.
Some of those activities included a cabane à sucre put on by l’Association Canadienne Francophone de l’Alberta (ACFA), fire starting and bannock making facilitated by Parks Canada, skating and on-ice games on patches of cleared ice, and horse-drawn sleigh and dogsled rides.
Winterstruck is one of the more than 60 Jasper in January events happening between Jan. 16 and Feb. 1. For a complete schedule check out the Jan. 15 issue of the Fitzhugh, or visit www.jinj.ca.
