A man was left trapped in his truck Jan.14, after he rolled his Nissan Titan while travelling down Highway 16.

The crash happened shortly after 10 a.m., across the road from Jasper Lake. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and the man escaped without major injuries.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Don Smith, the driver lost control after hitting a small drift on the road formed by snow blowing off the lake

His truck spun across the median before rolling onto its roof on the opposite side of the road.

The fire brigade responded to the call at 10:17 a.m., and by 10:35 were on scene. At approximately 10:50 emergency crews were able to free the man, who was travelling to B.C.

Smith said that although the driver was trapped for more than 30 minutes, he appeared in good health when he exited the vehicle.

He emerged from his truck wearing a neck brace, but walking upright, and was helped by emergency crews to the stretcher waiting at the ambulance.

"He didn't look too bad. He didn't have any obvious injuries, [he was] just sore and bashed around a bit," Smith said, adding that the man was taken by ambulance to Hinton for examination.

Smith said the man was moving around inside of the truck while crews worked to free him, but that for safety's sake he remained in the vehicle.

Most of the highway was clear the morning of the crash, but blowing snow caused poor conditions across the section where the crash took place.
