Students at Jasper Junior/Senior High School put down their books for the day and tried their hand at a variety of activities that aren’t normally found in the provincial curriculum, Dec. 3.
Activities ranged from learning about the science of hockey, to creating toffee and learning how to juggle.
“Today is about stretching kids’ boundaries and letting them try something they maybe haven’t tired before,” said Mark Crozier, the principal of the school.
Students also had the opportunity to learn how to quilt, tune skis and try porcelain painting, among other activities.
“All of these practical things kids would like to learn about, but where do you get this otherwise?” said Crozier, who was running a workshop teaching students how to juggle and ride a unicycle.
This is the second year the high school has run the program, which they offer twice a year.
