With a winter like we’ve had, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that soccer season is right around the corner.
There’s no doubt we’ll get more snow before the clock finally strikes spring, but that snow will melt quickly in our pleasant valley and the grass will begin to regrow on our sports fields. Once that happens, the nets will come out, the shorts will go on, soccer balls will follow and the multi-lingual cries of “GOAL” will be heard around town.
To get ready for the season, Jasper Minor Sports is hosting a soccer registration day at the Jasper Activity Centre on Feb. 29 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
During these hours, Jasper Minor Sports volunteers will be there to help people fill in registration forms, give out practice schedules and collect fees.
Registration will be open throughout March for those unable to make it down to the activity centre on the 29th. Forms will also be available at the Jasper Activity Centre’s information desk, Jasper Elementary School, Jasper Junior/Senior High School, and Jasper Source for Sports.
Completed forms with fees (cheques only please) can be returned to Jasper Source for Sports.
If you are looking to contribute to your community, pass on your impressive soccer skills as a coach and add to your volunteer resume, the Jasper soccer executive is looking for enthusiastic coaches, referees and coordinators.
Please contact Traudi Golla at 780-852-7492 to find out how you can participate.
