Seniors’ Week is in full swing, after a kick off party at Alpine Summit Seniors Lodge.

The community’s seniors, both residents of the lodge, as well as non-residents, gathered in the backyard for a garden party, June 1, marking the beginning of the annual celebration.

Sporting a sombraro, Glen McGrath, manager of the lodge, handed out straw hats to each of the party-goers keeping the hot sun off their faces and adding a little flare to the summery shindig.

As well as hats, seniors enjoyed sunshine, chit-chat and all kinds of goodies, as well as a visit from some friendly birds.

The garden party was one of many events organized by the lodge between June 1 and June 7.

On Tuesday, DJ Tommy K hosted a video dance party and Wednesday the seniors enjoyed a movie under the stars.

Today, June 4, a group is hitting the open waters for a raft trip and in the evening they’ll enjoy a children’s concert with Grace Kohn.

Activities wrap up on Friday with a mini golf tournament in the garden.
