Police investigate head on collision involving alcohol

Hinton RCMP are continuing to investigate a head on collision that sent three people to hospital that involved alcohol over the Canada Day long weekend.

Hinton RCMP are continuing to investigate a head on collision that sent three people to hospital that involved alcohol over the Canada Day long weekend.

According to police, on July 2 Hinton RCMP were dispatched to a collision on Highway 16 just east of Jasper National Park’s east gates around 11 a.m.

The investigation determined that a westbound sedan struck an eastbound transport truck head on causing extensive damage to the sedan.

Two adult passengers of the sedan were sent to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released. The driver and lone occupant of the transport truck was not injured. The driver of the sedan was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision.

Several criminal code charges are pending against the adult driver of the sedan.
