For many Jasperites, Mother’s Day was spent running 10 kms around lakes Edith and Annette.
Totem Ski Shop’s 31st annual Spring Runoff saw 149 runners take off from the start line in the Lake Annette parking lot at 11 a.m. and in a short 37 minutes, the first runner was crossing the finishing line.
Jean Yves-Doucet was the first place runner, completing the race with a time of 37:11. He was closely followed by Mike D’Antonio, who was less than a minute behind with a time of 38:01. Rounding out the top three was Casey Blais, who completed the race in 39:33.
On the women’s side, Suzy Whitty was the first place finisher, just barely besting Monika Braun.
Whitty finished with a time of 44:07 and Braun with 44:25. Elsie Todgham came in third with a time of 45:28.
