“Pass it on,” sang a group of colourfully clad girls as they waited for an overflowing bag of groceries to be handed down the line and into their hands.
The groceries, which were collected by the Jasper Elementary School throughout the month of December, were on their way to the Jasper Food Bank down the street.
To get the non-perishable food items to the Anglican Church basement, where the food bank is located, the students lined up along the street and passed each bag hand-to-hand, creating a human food chain.
The annual event is an important one, said Patrick Mooney of the food bank, because not only does it get the kids outside for some exercise, it also connects them to the food bank and the people who need it.
